Extend unemployment as freeby over two years beyond benefit
while leaving selfemployed out in the cold literally.
Paul states in First Corinthians: If you can become free, that
is better.
A slave economy like Roman empire had a different word for
it. Today it would say, "if you can become selfemployed, that is better." Yet does there not seem to be a concentrated
attack on the selfemployed? With the economic depres-covery many self employed such as myself see revenues diving below
fixed expenses. We can cut fixed cost up to a point. Then revenues dove to lowered fixed costs. Fellow selfemployed
like poolmen have lost there worktrucks and left the workforce, never appearing on unemployment rolls, right to the street,
without a way to help exwife and kids. Other selfemployed went from 21 new lawns installed per season to one.
No safety net appears for us. Many don't keep receipts and records
well and, without the tithe, would lose all track of revenue. So, many self employed, like myself, don't even
meet the recordkeeping criterion for food stamp assistance.
$2.5 million getting unemployment insurance extensions will perhaps add
to some selfemployed a bit more low end demand. For the most part it leaves the selfemployed out in the cold and dwindling
away as a class in society.
Many selfemployed are applying
for jobs and running pell mell into the thirtyfive week average job search in America. That 36 week search is for those
without businesses and full time to search. It also discounts prejudice of hiring executives to hire an already selfemployed
applicant. Daunting are the hours spent sending humongous unseemly huge applications to employers over the internet,
building giant dashboards of applicant information on people companies may not even have openings for, all at the expense
of selfemployed who might use the time to vacuum the floors, call another potential customer or take needed time off.
Lockheed Martin is hardest on prospective applicants for DHS/TSA jobs with over 40 hours of application testing
and screening requests all the while spurring the applicant on with a "Contingent Job Offer." The applicant is left
forever at the dashboard "Awaiting Airport assessment." Sounded good to the mortgage company who gave a payment moratorium
based on that information. Now the moratorium is over and still awaiting assessment. Since when are there so few
government hiring employees that hiring is outsourced to uncaring defense contractors with software development and maintanance
programmers to gobble up the unemployed's time fruitlessly. Shame on Lockheed Martin and DHS/TSA. Shame on
a government caring so much for one class, unemployed wageearners, over another class, the poor selfemployed being
eliminated from society by an incompetent democratic party majority and administration. Hopefully the dem majority part
will change soon.
