2nd Timothy 1:1 Paul is given apostolic gifting, Spiritual Gifting is by God's own choosing, Just as we have free will, so also God is free to choose after the counsel of His own will. God's apostolic call is all about His promise that we should have eternal life in Christ Jesus. 1:2 Timothy is dear to Paul, we should have Godly affection for each other in the local assemblage and with whomever we are yoked with in the Lord's work. Paul prays for Grace mercy and peace on Timothy from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord, now glorified with God. 1:3 Remember Paul is praying for you night and day, after the habit of Jews who have thrice daily prayers. 1:4 Timothy's tears remembered by Paul who longs to see Timothy that in Christian fellowship and camaraderie they may be filled with joy. 1:5 Paul acquainted with the committed belief in Bible teaching of three generations of Timothy's family, his grandmother and mother. 1:6 Stir the spiritual gift of God transmitted by laying on of Paul's hands. 1:7 The Holy Spirit has not born fruit that is timid from fearing guilt or shame, The Holy Spirit flowers in us bearing fruit of power to preach and witness, love motivating worship and evangelism and a sound self-controlled sober mental attitude. 1:8 Guard against feelings of shame over the Lord and the ministration of God's Word. Also guard against guilt and shame about spiritual leaders, for many attacks will fall on them. The power from God is to be used to join our spiritual leaders like Paul in suffering shame for the good news, gospel Bible teaching. Suffering putdowns now for preaching it I am not ashamed says Paul. Suffering aspersion, slander and libel as a Christian witness or preacher is not shameful. The persecutors must intend it to be. It must be a natural tendency to feel shame for the suffering that comes from preaching the gospel. 1:9 The message is all about God's omnipotent power by which He saved our lost souls and elected us to a Holy vocation not by our effort, but, by His plan for us and the Grace lavishly bestowed on us before the seventh day of His preparing the world as a fit habitation for us. 1:10 This has finally been unveiled at the appearing of our savior Christ Jesus when He abolished death, and brought us to enlightenment about eternal life and immortality through the miracle of Bible teaching about the gospel, great news. 1:11 This is why God appointed me preacher, apostle and teacher. 1:12 That is also why I am suffering in imprisonment as if in laogai gulag or communist mental ward. Yet I won't be ashamed because I know I follow the true and living God in the person of the savior, Christ Jesus, and I have confidence instead that God will perform all we expect him to on the last day. 1:13 Keep guarding the high standard of sound Bible doctrines you have received: both believed in Bible teachings we share in Christ and in the system of Christ's love he commanded us to abide in that our joy may be full. 1:14 Protect this treasure which has been granted in trust to you, guard it by means of the power of the indwelling and filling Holy Spirit. 1:15 This trust was betrayed by all in the province A-sia, turning away from Paul, including Phygellus and Hermogenes, perhaps because of shame at Paul's imprisonment. Are all in California turning away from teaching the Bible and how to live in God's love? How easy it is to learn a whole book in what singing prayer and communion leaves over from an hour or so. Those that turn away are without excuse. How much shame can a little rejection bring? 1:16-18 Onesi-phorus, profit-bringer, was not ashamed. He enquired at all the jails and jailers after Paul. The milk of human kindness and courtesy dries up as you approach a jail. The guards are paid to hold malefactors in, not help you find, or minister to, an inmate. Through the bars; behind the glass; after the long wait; for a limited time; after showing I.D. Onesipherus too was not ashamed of Paul when he was jailed. Paul wasn't ashamed of the gospel. Timothy, don't be ashamed of either Paul in chains or ashamed of the gospel. Timothy, let Onesiphorus be your example who helped Paul and His gospel in(Eph.) and out of bonds. 2:1 Timothy, beloved of Paul, be strong in Grace in Christ Jesus. 2:2 What you've been taught in the assembly teach other faithful men so they also can teach it to others. 2:3. Suffer hardship with me as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 2:4 Soldiers on active duty can't hold down civilian jobs, they concentrate on their military career. Pastors and spiritual leaders should devote full time to spiritual leadership. 2:5 Athletes who cut corners are disqualified. Only by staying on the track can a runner win. Wait on the Lord for the increase in your church, keep on the Bible Teaching message. 2:6 Farmers labor to receive the first share of the crops. In all labor their is profit. But there are former and latter rains in the cycle. Farmers are nothing if not patient. So must the pastor be. 2:7 Think about my words and the Lord will give you understanding about everything. This helps me when I think The lack of sheep to pastor here calls into question am I chosen as pastor, and, if so, where are the sheep that should come when I call and know my voice. Actually thinking about the Bible will help us with everything. 2:8 Call often to memory Jesus Christ in whom we are, the resurrection in which we live and will share, royal heir of David royalty we share in union with Christ, as Paul's great Bible teaching news explains. 2:9 For this I suffer hard times as now I am even imprisoned like a terrorist. But God's doctrinal Bible teaching is not in prison. 2:10 That is why I endure(gate 11) all things to help God's elect church, so that the assemblage may realize their salvation in Christ Jesus and eternal glory with Christ. Put your faith in this hymn: If we died with Christ We now live in Christ If we endure tests in Christ(gate 11) We will also reign in Christ When we reject Jesus Jesus rejects us When we lose our belief in Bible Teaching He still offers it back to us. He cannot deny the Bible Teaching about Himself. Remind and solemnly charge in the presence of God: Don't argue about doctrines, it is meaningless to the ruin of the hearers. Study to show yourself approved unto god, a workman with no cause for shame, rightly dividing the word of truth. Alas, a true reason to be ashamed. Avoid secular vain chit chat leading to ungodliness(lack of endurance at gate 11) which talk will boil up like cancer. Shameful slothful chatterers include Hymenaeus and Phyletus who have veered away from Sound Doctrine claiming the resurrection has occurred already upsetting the belief some have in our Bible Teaching. God's firm foundation doctrine stands tall, sealed by the Spirit with, " the Lord knows those who are His." and Let everyone calling on Jesus cease from wrongdoing." God's house will hold fine articles and base pavers and planters. The man who cleanses himself from secular vain chit chat and supposition will be a fine article useful to God, Prepared for every good work. So flee youthful lusts and follow after righteousness at gate 2, belief in Bible Teaching at gate 8, and reliance on God at gate 7 together with those who call on the Lord at gate twelve with a mature perfected formed heart. Again refuse foolish ignorant speculations, proven to cause factions and quarrels. The Lord's voluntary slave must not be quarrelsome, but kind to all, quick to teach, patient when wronged, correcting opponents in a humble way, that way God ca give them a change of attitude that will lead them to understand the doctrinal Bible Teaching we promote. Then they may come to their senses, out from the devil's trap, having been captured by the Devil, to make them do Satan's will. 3:1-4 Here is important Bible Teaching you need to believe in about the rapture generation: The Bible will be harder than ever to preach. Eighteen kinds of wickedness will abound and 3:5 the wicked ones will falsely claim our religion as theirs yet reject the Lord and the Holy Spirit's resultant indwelling them and filling them with power at salvation(gate1). 3:6&7 They will lead many seekers who have rejected Christ astray. 3:8&9 Even when the Holy Spirit convinces them and their converts They will use Satanic black arts if necessary to oppose Him but won't get far for He will expose them and overpower them as Moses' serpent swallowed Jannes' and Jambres.' 3:10&11 On the other hand, you, pastor Tim, believe my Bible Teaching and your conduct goals and intents, patience in testing, abiding in Christ's love system and endurance strength training through persecution and sufferings as at Antioch, Iconium and Lystra: Big-time persecutions! You saw how the Lord delivered me from them all. 3:12 It is a Bible teaching that all who live Godly(at gate 11) will be persecuted. 3:13 Contrariwise the wicked, above, will proceed worse and worse in deceiving and being deceived. 3:14 You conversely should continue in the Bible beliefs you've learned and believed in knowing how righteous are your teachers. 3:15 Also your childhood teaching was sacred scriptural knowledge which produce wisdom which lead to salvation through belief in what the Bible teaches about Jesus Christ. 3:16 All scripture is God breathed: profitable for doctrinal teaching, rebuke, correction and training in righteousness. 3:17 that scriptural profiin God's man may be up to all challenges he faces and equipped for every good work. 4:1&2 Paul’s unique insight into times and epochs establishes his authority. Pastoral assignment: 1. Preach the Bible! 2. Be prepared at all times 3. Reprove 4. Rebuke 5. Exhort 6. Do all this with great patience and intense instruction. 4:3Do this now because the time is coming when they won't endure sound Bible Teaching. Their ears will itch to be scratched by false teachings the teachers of which they will multiply to themselves to feed their lust for selfish desires. 4:4 They will run from hearing Bible Teaching and run to follow myths. 4:5 But you, pastor Tim, Be sober and sane, Endure suffering at gate 11, Evangelize efficiently, using evangelical tools, fulfill you ministerial duty to supply people's spiritual needs. 4:6-8 Apostolic and pastoral life fulfilled, Paul looks forward to heavenly bliss and rewards together with all believers. 4:9-15 Paul implores Timothy to come and help in his imprisonment and court defense, recounting how he has only Luke with him, and was alone at his first defense, how the Lord strengthened him there. How He was delivered from the lion's mouth (To and fro goeth he seeking a meal) that through Paul the proclamation of Bible teaching about salvation might sound in the ear of all the gentiles(this book, for instance). 4:18 The Lord will deliver Paul from every evil deed. Paul perhaps harsh with Demas who may not have been Roman like Paul and faced crucifixion on fire. 21 There are yet brethren in Rome under Nero.
