Salton Sea Authority is barking up the wrong tree. No need to shrink the lake. Just plow through the
Colorado River delta and install a lock gate like for a canal and the ocean will find its way to the Salton Sea and so will
lots of cool Sea Life. It used to be ocean. All the runoff from the melting Glaciers of the arctic can be
diverted to the new improved and expanded Salton Sea. We can even turn it into a locked canal and bring
in the big barges and cruising cruiseliners full of fat rich tourists and wedding honeymooners, even muslim oil
magnates with their big bucks.
Less adventurous and progressive is a siphon pipeline run over the delta to an inland spot five or so feet
below sea level. Less water but enough will siphon through to fill up the sea and perhaps expand it and solve our
little environmental snafu. Don't forget that much of Imperial Valley(including the Salton Sea) and Coachella
Valley is under Sea level and was once part of the Pacific Ocean.
