James 4:11 Usurpation, Usurper, Usurp, Usurpious, Usurpation, synonyms: appropriate, sieze, take, take over, assume, commandeer, grab usurp: appropriate, sieze, take, take over, assume, commandeer grab defined: Seize something without right: to use something without the right to do so from Latin usurpare "sieze for use" plus rapere "sieze" Look for some of this as we discover James 4:11 and 12 Don't speak against each other fellow brothers of Christ. (James, being the Lord's brother, when he calls us brothers, is it not more salient?) What about Paul? Didn't he speak against some? What will we do with that? I guess the chief apostle and the one who turned on Europe, Syria, Arabia and Asia Minor to the gospel is given leeway and received extra personal Satanic opposition than we do. We would do well to obey what James forbids us do. He who speaks against a fellow brother of the Lord Jesus Christ or condemns his brother speaks against the Law and judges the law. As if the titular head of the entire church, and the brother of our Lord, author of the canon of scripture, to whom Paul Himself and Peter deferred, could not by his simple authority so forbid us. James condescends to us by offering some explanation filled with its very own teaching. What law are we under? the Mosaic law contained the Royal Law v.2:8, do not begrudge brother or sister but love one another as you love thyself; Law of love Romans 13:8,9,10 14:10,13a,15a,17; Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus Romans 8:2; Law also is a Word for the Bible and Bible Teaching; The Law of Sin and Death Romans 7:10 The Law proved to result in death for me, v.11 sin taking opportunity through law, deceived me and killed me; v.23 a different law in my members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind, and making me its prisoner v.24&5&Romans8:1 Only Jesus can set us free! Romans 8:2 The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus sets us free from the law of sin and death, v.3 What the Law could not do, God did, sending His Son in the likeness of sinful flesh as a substitute for sin, in this way He condemned sin in the flesh v.4 so that we fulfill the laws demands as we walk not in the flesh but in the Spirit v.5 setting our mind on the Spirit v.6 which yields life and reconciliation/peace/shalom. v.10 Though the body is dead because of sin, v.11 if the Spirit of Him, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you, He, the Spirit, Who raised Christ Jesus from the dead, will also give life to your mortal bodies, through His Spirit Who lives in you. v.13 If under control of the Spirit you are killing the deeds of the body, you will live. v.14 All led by the Holy Spirit are the sons of God. v.15 God's Spirit in you is not of slavery to sinful flesh leading to fear of death. The Holy Spirit is that of adoption, and we appeal "Dad", to God. v.16 The Holy Spirit confirms it to us that our Dad is God. v.17 We are his heir, joint heir with Christ in Glory and we are chastened with Christ at Gate 11 so that we shall be glorified together with Christ. Romans 8:33Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the One Who justifies! Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He Who died, yes, rather Who was raised, Who is at the right hand of God, Who stands to speak positively for us. Compare that with "He who speaks against a fellow brother of the Lord Jesus Christ" Doesn't he resort back to Law while Christ speaks up in Grace for the victim. 4:12 There is only one Judge and one Lawgiver. He is the One Who is able to save (when Jesus speaks up for us we are saved) and destroy. (when we earn Jesus condemnation because we usurp his role as judge by speaking against a fellow brother of our Lord, then we are crushed under a cave-in of Christ's correction.) On the right side of this issue, who are you? You who usurp Christ's role and judge your fellow brother and fellow subject of the Lord Jesus Christ? Think of the times someone says "who are you?" Do I know you? It is when we are where we don't belong! Doing things we shouldn't with and to people we shouldn't. Don't make Jesus ask, "Who are you?" We must not presume we are judge when Christ is Judge. Likewise presumption about our plans is forbidden in v.13 through v.17. It is your turn to pay close attention, you who say, "Today or tomorrow, we shall go to a certain city and spend a year there and engage in business and make money." Just like those who are "proud and arrogant who show their haughty spirit in bitter jealousy and selfish ambition that fills their conscience, moves their heart, they speak bitter jealousy and selfish ambition from their vocabulary..." of whom the spirit just said "If you are one of these, don't be arrogant and boast about wisdom and understanding and so lie against the categories and principles of Bible teaching." You boast this way against the truth that you don't know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are proud, self-important and presumptuous. That is why I inform you that you are a puff of smoke or mist. You appear in the Devil’s world a short time and then vanish away. Instead of boasting in arrogance you should say If the Lord wills, or, Godwilling, we shall live, and also do this or that. But, as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Evil, of course, is forbidden! Proverbs 6:16 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, Proverbs 6: A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, 19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers. v.17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. This I believe goes back to James 3:1 directed at teachers. Knowing, as teachers, we shall incur a stricter judgment Luke 9:62 Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." Luke 9:47 The slave who knew the master’s will and did not get ready or act in accord with his will, shall receive many lashes. 48. To whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more. James 5 Condemnation of the Rich: 5:1 Now it is your turn to pay attention. You who are rich! A foreign crowd of unbelievers is now in view. Brothers and fellow brothers of the Lord Jesus Christ is out the window. Heinous condemnable rich! Now here this! Start to weep now and howl! How we humble ourselves Fast approaching miseries are crashing down toward you! 5:2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Matt. 6:19 Jer. 17:11 James 5:3 Your gold and silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. We are after all a vapor that is passing away and even Gold will deteriorate in eternity's long expanse. Perhaps the fires of hell will be lit with wicks of gold from the gold collection of the rich, fetched from time's dark coffers to adorn the rich in blazing misery It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure! Elisha's ill fated servant Gehazi likewise heard this same judgmental refrain before his own flesh excruciated with leprosy James 5:4 Observe a newly unveiled truth about yourself, moneybags, the wages of those who work in your enterprises, and which has been withheld by you (this wealth is that of union bosses, government politicians and bureaucrats, and lobbyists, whose earmarks and union dues), cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did your labour have Are you careful not to by products of Christian slaves in China; Hindu undercaste subsidized labour in India; and muslim terrorized employees of Indonesian, North Africa, Pakistan, Bengladesh and other muslim lands, reached the ears of the Lord of the Sabbath. 5:5 You have lived luxuriously Ipads, Ipods laptops all of antiChristian slave economies on the Earth and lived a life of wanton Personal pleasures at the expense of abortions pleasure 2 Tim 3:4&5; you have fattened your hearts minds, souls and spirits full of memorys of pleasure and drunkenness, gluttony and riot having no spiritual resources to deliver in a day of slaughter. 5:6 You have condemned and put to death the righteous man. He does not resist you. The righteous man is Jesus. We participate in his demise when we forget the needy body of Christ worldwide, our brothers as believers, our betters if we are rich unbelievers.
