You who have trusted in Christ, you have won an election. God has elected you to Royal Privilege in union with His Son Jesus Christ your new elder brother. What is more, God watched out over you, variously protecting, providing and testing you before and after your election via His foreknowledge that you and he will always be intricately tied together throughout all eternity. By the Father's all knowing will and the Spirit's saving work the glorious gift of faith was divinely given to you while it was withheld from others so that you are set apart, consecrated and made Holy unto God from the time you trusted in the Holy Spirit's message as he made it understandable to you from the lips of a feeble person or the printed page or even a recording or broadcast. This is our cause for rejoicing in hope, even if for the span of our lives here we may be tested by various trials and tribulations. 1:7 Your belief in Bible teaching is like gold both in value and method of testing, purifying and casting into useful form. Value-wise, belief in Bible teaching exceeds infinitely the mere pecuniary valuation of gold, silver and precious stones. Gold is fired and cast, faith is tested with persecution, suffering, loss and deprivation. The gold becomes pure and useable. Our belief in Bible teaching becomes more prominent and entrenched within us, more trustworthy as the solution capable of coping with all challenges our faith may face. As a result we will live faithfully, using our belief in Bible teaching to so live that we will receive praise, honor and glory at the rapture when we meet Jesus Christ at the glorification and evaluation review in Heaven.

These difficulties refine and build the real quality of your belief in Bible Teaching. That faith is more precious than gold we must leave behind with this Earthly life. 1:23 Thus we are born again, not of the flesh a perishable seed but of imperishable spiritual seed, the living and abiding word of God. 1:24 & 25 The Word of the Lord abides forever that word which was preached to you. 1 Peter 2:1-2:6

2:2 We start with love unfeigned for God as we know him and we know hom through His word. like newborn babies, crave the pure breast milk of God's word. Yet Jesus is the choice stone precious in the sight of God: Jesus is the aforementioned foreordained messiah; when this present evil world has been folded into the flaming demonic hell for the unbelievers, Jesus dominion will just begin, and we, who have believed, are his domain, the choice stone, Jesus, 2:5 and the living stones, us, and we the other living stones are being fabricated into a Holy Spirit filled temple, as we grow in the Lord we fulfill a more important function and get a better place in the true temple of the Holy Spirit, collectively, the church, to offer up sacrifices God covets, Jesus died for us that through the obedience of faith in Him, His cross and the glories certain to follow, we offer up a spiritual sacrifice of devotion to God, through and on the altar of His Son Jesus Christ, Now there is no other altar but the cross of Christ, no offering but Jesus, No death but Jesus cruel murder at the hands of sinners as prophesied in the old covenant, 2:6 Isaiah 28:16 says "Pay close attention to this teaching, I lay a foundation in Zion, a choice stone, a precious corner stone." How are we brought to God?

By being put to death in the flesh? Yes, partially

that signifies a purpose clause, meaning Jesus intended something as His motive for suffering for our sins:

God's motive? That we might be dead in our flesh to sin and alive in The Filling of God's Spirit living to righteousness. Healed together with God having returned to the guardian and chief shepherd of our souls.

Christ always was and always will be just and righteous.

We were so unjust that all our righteousnesses were as filthy menstrual rags. Yet Christ, the just the righteous one, suffered for our sins, for you and I, the unjust and unrighteous ones, that we might live by the Filling of the Holy Spirit to righteousness. If we don't live by the Filling of the Spirit we frustrate the Lord, the fruition of christ's intent in suffering for sins is blocked. God the Holy Spirit can therefore be expected urge us to rectify this blockage and so gratify Christ bringing us to life or back to life in Christ by the Spirit. Christ suffered once for all sins. We are saved once for all. Not to lose it and regain it, Not as it were a second, third, fourth fifth sixth etc. salvation set.

1 Peter 4:1&2 paraphrase with comment: 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us while we were in our flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for we that hath suffered in our flesh hath ceased from our sin; 4:2 That we no longer should live the rest of our time, not in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God

How then can we suffer for sins that Christ has already suffered vicariously for us, but in union with Christ. A mind set on Christ suffering for our sin to the extent we are conscious of it appears to be our armament (arm yourself with this same mind) to effect :

1. cessation from sin

2. living in the Spirit, not in the flesh

3. living to the will of God, not the lusts of men.

Are not these the central challenges we face in the Christian Life. To cease from sin's domination over us. To live filled with the Spirit for extended periods of time unbroken by carnally living in the flesh due to sin. To live to do the will of God. Peter the Rock gives us the stonecutter's formula, The fisherman's technique, the apostle's method. This book sets forth a few mindsets we are to follow: 1. Set(Arm) our mind on(with) our union, our partaking, with Christ in His suffering for us bearing our sin on the cross. 2. Rejoice in the tests of suffering we receive following Christ. Joy inexpressible and full of glory about the Lord's soon coming. 3. Fix our mind on the grace to be brought us at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 4. Let your Mental attitude be filled with Reverence and Humility.

1 Peter 2:20b when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. 21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered , he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judges righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. How do we follow in Christ's footsteps? We are in union with Christ as He suffers for us. We commit ourselves to God in union with Christ on the cross suffering for us. We can only do that via calling upon God the Father calling to his attention our union with Christ suffering for us on the cross asking Him Whose Son bore our sins to help us bear up in Christ under temptation to sin. Are we committed, Commitment of ourselves to Him Who judges righteously.

In this way we ourselves follow Christ's example. We follow in His Footsteps. We call out to God the Father, noting to Him our union with Christ as He suffered for our sins asking God to help us bear up under weight of temptation in this Christ bearing the weight and penalty of our sins. Jesus shoulders our load of temptation. We commit this struggle within us to God Who judes righteously. In this we die with Christ to our sins and the Spirit urges us to live for righteousness. By His stripes we are thus healed, from sin tearing us from God, and we are returned from straying like sheep, returned to the shepherd and bishop of our souls.

1 Peter 1:13-23: Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind(will our mind get really busy? have to respond to needs and crises, temptations and trials, serving others and listening to needs?), be sober (Jesus wants servants waiting expectantly for him at his return not given over to drunkenness that ruins their life.), and hope to the end(hope perfectly, confident in God) for the grace (joy and elation at our new bodies of glorie and the radiant lord with us) that is to be brought (The Lord shall descend and we shall be changed) unto you at the revelation (John shall write of this 30 years hence in the book of the same name) of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written , Be ye holy; for I am holy. 17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ (Christ suffered for us and bore our sins and we partake with Him of that for our cleansing), as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily (It is a category of Bible Teaching that you are to believe in as part of your overall faith) was foreordained (as Christ, anointed and ordained, to save the world, especially us who believe) before the foundation (Christ appeared as Lamb and Son of God before the beginnings of creation were revealed in the heavenly temple of God) of the world (kosmos, universe, creation, Earth), but was manifest in these last times for you, 21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.(Faith is belief in Christ for salvation and in the Bible Teaching Christ bestows on us through the Spirit. Hope is the confidence we have in the reality and certainty of both, our perfection/formation as mature in Christ, and, our soon coming Lord in glory) 22 Seeing ye have purified (washed by faith in that precious blood of Christ, both the real element and its symbolic counterpart, the suffering Christ did vicariously for our sins on the cross) your souls in obeying the truth (Hearing and believing the gospel message) through the Spirit (Salvation by faith by the Spirit, a spiritual new birth, and restorative cleansing thereafter by confession of sin, yielding purity from unrighteosness and Holyness of the Holy Spirit's filling, 1 John 1:9), unto unfeigned love of the brethren (This is what we do as Christians, love our fellow believers fervently from the heart), see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again , not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God (Jesus Christ's title), which liveth and abideth for ever.
